Description |
"Thirty years of service on the home mission field in Montana is the unique record that was established by Rev. P.A. Fair, who served as pastor in Helena from 1901 until he was called to his eternal reward on May 1, 1931. Rev. Fair always took pride in the fact that he had been appointed by Dr. Eric Norelius to serve as home mission superintendent in Montana, when Norelius was president of the Synod. Dr. Norelius and other had seen the home mission needs of Montana as early as 1890, but owing to the scarcity of pastors it was almost impossible to find anyone who was willing to go to Montana. And this has been one of the greatest problems ever since, until the last few years. As a consequence, there have been frequent and long vacancies in most of our Montana congregations. One congregations, which is now 35 years old, has been vacant 15 years out of 35 since its organization." |
