This Norwegian couple is facing Norway’s regal royal palace (Slotten), where they were attending an event. The woman is dressed in a bunad, a conventional celebratory costume in Norwegian culture. Behind them is the main street in downtown Oslo, Karl Johans Gate. The walk to the palace is up a relatively steep hill, and while car after car drove passed this couple and dropped its passengers off at the door to the palace, these two slowly made their walk uphill. It was interesting to see them in their conventional clothing among the modernized city of Oslo. Despite its modernization, Norway still retains strong connections with its past and culture.
