This girl was a part of a small village on a Fijian island. We experienced their cultural traditions and were given a tour of their homes. This girl along with many other children followed us everywhere we went. They dressed up their best clothes to impress us, and proceeded to ask us to take photographs of them the whole time. All the children wanted to see themselves in our digital cameras because several of them had never even seen themselves before due to no mirrors. “Bula Vinaka” is all they said (which is a welcoming statement) because they could not speak English.
